Introduction - from the History

1912 – the company was established by Mr. Behr and Mr. Ruprecht – the abraviation BERU, to produce fire detectors, phones and electroparts which later changed to exclusive production of ignition equipment for vehicles.

 1920 – first series production of spark plugs with tangential position of electrode for the cars Mecedes-Benz and Horch.

 1932 – world patent of the fírst four electrodes spark plugs with interference-suppression resistor with waterproof ignition cable.

 1952 – patenting and introduction in production of the first sheated heater plug with heating coi. It replaced older type of the plug with open spiral electrode.

 1969-72 – patenting and introduction in series production of two/single-fillament technology glow plug (type GV)

 1994-95 – patenting and introduction in series production of glow plugs type GN (pre-heating – heating – after-heating).

 1997 – patenting and introduction in production of new type of universal spark plugs line ULTRA X.

 2000 – patenting of TSS – Tyre Sensor System.

 2001 – patenting of ISS – Instant Start System and ne generation of glow plugs type GE (electronically controlled pre-heating – heating – after-heating).

 2004 – the introduction of the glow plug of the future with the ability to read the data about the process of combustion in the cylinder.

 2004 – introduction of the ULTRA X PLATIN spark plugs.

The acceleration of further development began especially after the entering of the company BERU in to the Borg Warner Co. and after partial business on the Stock exchange. Narrow cooperation with the producers of the engines solved a lot of problems with ignition and heating connected with the enquirement of output of the engines as well as with emission standards.
